ULTRASOUND
We went in for our big ultrasound on August 18th at CMC in Charlotte at an office that specializes in high-risk screenings. During this ultrasound we found out that the twins were IDENTICAL. This was a big shock to us because my regular doctor thought they were most likely fraternal. They know they are identical because they share a placenta. This makes the pregnancy riskier because the twins are so reliant on each other and one twin can "steal" nutrients from the other. For this reason we will have an ultrasound every two weeks to be sure they are growing properly and evenly. Right now they are well within the acceptable range. Baby A weighs 7 ounces and Baby B is a bit smaller at 6.2 ounces. As long as they are within 20% of each other it's okay. The babies were crazy during their ultrasound, but that may be because I fed them Skittles and Coke before we went. I wanted to make sure they weren't "shy" at the appointment and read online to feed them lots of sugar. Well, this definitely worked because they were bouncing around all over the place. We could see them punching at each other (the fighting has already started!). It was very obvious we were having twin boys on the ultrasound. Like a typical boy, they were proud :) We were overjoyed with the news! Papa Stott is already excited to get them in a racecar. I'm thinking NFL players who will support their parents!
Names
Baby A: Jackson Thomas
Baby B: William Daniel
Jason has always loved the name Jack and we just like Thomas. William was my great-grandaddy's and my great uncle's name. Daniel is Jason's dad's name and Jason's middle name. They will be most likely be called Will and Jack the majority of the time. We are so excited to finally know what to call them other than "the twins."

This picture freaks me out a bit, but it's cool.
William squished on his head.
GENDER REVEAL PARTY
We didn't reveal the genders until Saturday night at our Gender Reveal Party, despite being begged by all the grandparents! Mom and dad did an amazing job hosting a party for us. When guests arrived to the party they voted whether they thought we were having two boys, two girls, or one of each.
Guests also placed bets on the Twins' Birthday and Combined Birth Weight. We'll have to wait to see the winners! My actual due date is January 18th. Twins typically come about one month early. We're very excited to meet them, but we want them to stay in my belly as long as possible. I have started feeling flutters or tickles of them moving around, but they haven't moved enough for anyone else to feel them yet. It's an odd, but comforting sensation.
In typical Stott family party fashion, we had plenty of food and drinks to keep everyone nourished.
Thank you Daddy Dan and Kandi for the Edible Arrangements. They were AMAZING!
Of course the Beer cooler was the largest :)
Some of the boys gathered outside.
Time for the big reveal!! We had the two grandmas open a gift.
Inside were Charlotte 49er onesies.
If the "C picks" were green, they were boys.
If they were pink, they were girls.
Giving my thanks to everyone for coming to the party.
Jason explaining the twins were IDENTICAL, so everyone who had picked the boy/girl option was wrong! That got a gasp from the audience!!
Grandmas starting to open the gift.
Smaller presents inside the big present. Good job on wrapping, Kristina!!
Two baby boys!!! Love my mom's face behind the onsie!
Checking out the ultrasound pictures that showed the boys' "goods!"
Thank you SO much to everyone who came out to the party. It was a huge success and so much fun! We are so blessed to have such great family and friends. The boys are going to be surrounded by love. Thank you also for all the books everyone brought. This makes a great start to their library. If the boys are anything like their mother, they will love reading!
NURSERY
We have started to work on the nursery. We were keeping it pretty neutral to begin with, but now I can order all the artwork I've had my eye on. We are doing a Nautical theme. My grandmother is making quilts, but I also found some Pottery Barn ones at a Consignment Sale last week that work well too. Jason's mom is making a bench cushion, curtains, and bed skirts for us. I'm so blessed to have people who can sew well! We went with mini cribs instead of full size so that we could fit everything into the room. We found the cribs at a place in Alabama and my two aunts bought them for us! We got the shelves at Ikea and they worked out perfectly with the window. We still have our eye out for a changing table and glider. I've had so much fun getting the nursery ready. I will post more pictures once I get the artwork and everything else finished.
Good job on the crib assembly, hubby!
The room currently. Wall art, curtains, and rug to come!
Window seat- the window will have blinds and curtains soon.
We'll also have some more throw pillows on the bench.
The closet so far. The changing table will go in here.
As you can tell, I already bought some clothes at some of the consignment sales I went to!
So those are the major updates from the last month! We are so excited to meet our sweet boys. We pray daily for their healthy development. We appreciate everyone's love and support. It wouldn't be nearly as much fun if we didn't have everyone to share this wonderful adventure with.
I will leave you with a quote I found: There
are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared: twins. ~Josh
