The boys are growing like crazy. Even the nurses keep commenting that I am getting bigger each day. I'd like to say they are joking, but it's definitely true! My belly just keeps going out, out, and out! I keep thinking my skin is just going to rip, but it's amazing what the human body can do. I just don't want to see it after these kiddos are out of it! That's gonna be a sight (which I will not be sharing!). Last Monday (November 12th) we had another growth scan. Jackson grew 19 ounces in two weeks! He weighed 3 lbs, 11 ounces! What a big boy! William is still hanging in there and gained 14 ounces! He weighed 2 lbs, 14 ounces! Soooo close to that 3 lb mark. We figured up they grew about an ounce a day. Their Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome has not worsened, as they stayed the same at 24% discrepancy. Not ideal, but okay. Their fluid levels are still completely different, but Will has enough and Jack's hasn't increased anymore. We will have one more growth scan at 32 weeks before they are born. That will be next Monday (November 26th), so that will be very exciting!!! We'd be thrilled if they could be in the 4 and 5 lb range when they are born at 34 weeks. One thing that did change at the ultrasound was that Jack (who is Baby A, so he'll come out first) is now breech. He's been head down for quite a while, but decided to change things up on us. Silly boy!
So the plan for now is to continue what we've been doing- hanging out! I still get monitored twice a day. During this time they put a monitor on each baby's heartbeat and one on me for contractions. This is supposed to last 30 minutes each time, but a lot of times will be over an hour because the boys like to wiggle around! I am still having contractions at night, but they haven't been painful yet. They usually give me a little medicine to calm them down. I've had to have morphine (fun stuff- hehe :) a couple times when they don't calm down enough, but they haven't been strong enough to dilate me yet. They checked my cervix last week and it was still closed- yahoo! I'm on my 4th IV port now. Which if you've ever had one of those, they are not fun to get, but I have to say I've gotten pretty used to being poked with needles these days. Jason cracked me up on the last one I got by saying "That one wasn't too bad!" Comments like that make me want to poke him with a needle in a place that I won't mention! :) I still get my blood sugar levels checked three times a week, four times a day. So that's 12 needle pricks on my fingers per week, but at least they're not doing it everyday still. My levels have been fine, but they are super conservative and watch everything really closely. They still check my temperature every four hours (even in the middle of the night) since this will be the first sign of infection. Starting at about 5 a.m. I have doctors and nurses who start coming in to check on various things. The calmest time of the day is the middle of the day when I can get in some lesson planning, reading, tv watching, or my favorite- napping! They weigh me every couple of days and I have finally gained some weight to now weight 152 lbs! I had lost some weight when I first got here, so they were a little worried, but the hospital food has been good to me now. I've still only gained around 32 lbs total, which I'm pretty proud of. Hopefully it won't take too long to get my girlish figure back after the boys get here! I am a full 44 inches around now! Yikes!
We are now at 31 weeks and three days! Sometime this week they will give me the steroid shots again to help the boys' lungs. I got these shots when we first came in at 27 weeks. They need 48 hours to get both shots in, so they want to be sure they get this done before we deliver. This Friday (the 23rd) they'll be 32 weeks, which is another huge milestone. Babies born after 32 weeks have a lot less problems. Right now the plan is to deliver the day I hit 34 weeks. This will be Friday, December 7th! So less than three weeks away!! The reason they are delivering at 34 is because my water broke so early. They have found that the risk for infection is too high and the boys will be better on the outside than the inside at 34 weeks. The boys will most likely be delivered by C-section since Jackson is breech and Will is smaller and transverse. We'll know more as we get closer to December 7th. Of course, that could always change in the next couple weeks depending on how my uterus behaves and how the boys' heart rates look on the monitor. Right now we are so thankful for every day that we have made it with the boys still in my belly! God is so good! The boys will probably still have a NICU stay of a week or two, but that is okay. We want them to be ready to come home healthy! Hopefully we'll have them both home by Christmas!
Jason has been absolutely amazing throughout this entire time. He sleeps on his "bed" here with me every night and worries like crazy. He truly is going to be the most amazing dad ever. I know I'm partial, but he really is the best hubby and guy ever. I'm so blessed to have him. My mom comes and spends every Saturday night with me so Jason can at least get one night with the furbabies and do laundry. Speaking of furbabies, Jason's mom has been amazing and checks on the dog and cat everyday, which is a huge help. I miss Izzy and Lily SO much and can't wait to get some major snuggle time in when we get home. The poor things have no idea what is going on. :( They're resilient though and will survive!
Again, thank you SO much to everyone who has visited, sent a message, said a prayer, anything! We are so incredibly blessed. We definitely have plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! :) Please continue to pray for our family as we continue this crazy adventure!
30 weeks! Huge milestone!!
Dad took this last Wednesday when he and mom came to visit. All I can say is "Woah!" All my shirts are too short, but who do I need to impress?? :)
31 weeks!!!
Happy Thanksgiving from the Andrades!!
